Andrea Levy
Update: In June 2026 Rob de Kort of Studio 1902 took over the hosting, maintenance and further development of this site.
Andrea Levy was an English novelist of Caribbean descent whose work reflected the experiences of black Britons.
Andrea's partner Bill came to me as Andrea's existing website needed to be replaced. The technology it was built with had become outmoded after seven years and the visual design was not particularly current. In this way the project was atypical for me as the content was entirely complete and available – as such, all my focus was on rebuilding and migrating.
As it was unlikely the site would require much (if any) attention or maintenance over the coming years, we decided to build with a CMS and to deploy statically. The project was largely done within a single week.
