A Profound Waste of Time (APWOT) launched as a Kickstarter campaign to fill a void in video game journalism that explored the artistic and cultural merits of the medium.
Editor and art director Caspian Whistler needed a branded website (or page) that could be used to represent the publication and sell pre-orders. Following an initial coffee to discuss the project, the site was built and launched in a single day with hosting provided for free by GitHub Pages. PayPal buttons were styled for the brand and provide a lightweight e-commerce solution. The first version of the site was live for about a year until an update to the site was done ahead of the physical distribution of the magazine.
