Newlyn

Miles Newlyn has had an esteemed career designing logos and fonts for some of the world’s best known brands. In 2004 he launched Newlyn - a foundry that would provide a typographic voice to brands with large, international audiences.

The project started during the final stretch of a web build by an agency with which Miles was dissatisfied. Although it gave Newlyn a home on the web, it failed to highlight the credentials of Miles and his typefaces, and was built for desktop devices only. Together we wrote a new brief to detail the desires and requirements and then put out that out to tender.

Oslo based Heydays was selected for their strong type-led portfolio and experience with complex e-commerce sites. The final result was built on Wordpress with WooCommerce and includes functionality on the backend for Newlyn to manage fonts, orders and licenses.

A key feature was to enable visitors to quickly download the entire Newlyn font library for trial usage. This enables designers and agencies to prototype and pitch with Newlyn fonts prior to making any financial commitments for their clients.
